Hello, I’m Marylou Long and currently I am a Mathematics Content Coordinator with Kern County Superintendent of Schools. For the past 13 years I have been a tutor on Do The Math.
I have been in education for 28 years. Prior to coming to KCSOS, I taught for 20 years in the Rosedale Union School District as a Kindergarten teacher, a 6th-Grade Teacher, 7th-grade Math Teacher. I also was the middle school Mathematics Mentor, Student Council Representative, and Math Field Day Coach.
After leaving Rosedale Union School District, I spent two years as a STEM Coach with Grimmway Academy in Shafter before moving over to KCSOS as the Data Analyst Program Specialist.
The reason why math is so special to me is because math is about problem solving, preserving, and making sense of relationships. Math is all around us and we use these traits everyday. I love a good challenge and preserving through to the end.
I am a wife, mom, and grandma. My hobbies are spending time with my husband, children, and grandchildren. In addition, every weekend I spend my time hiking with friends. I love soccer and running. I am also a baker who loves watching baking shows.
As I always stated on my first day of class:
Welcome! I’m so excited to collaborate and learn with all of you. Looking forward to our adventure together.
